DESCRIPTION: | Five well-known photographers, including Bob Richards from the Richards Studio in Tacoma and his brother Turner Richards, enjoyed some fine cigars during the Professional Photographers of Washington convention held in early July of 1962 at Tacoma's Winthrop Hotel. Back row (l to r) Alden Burnett, Peter Gowland, and Bob Richards. Front row (l to r) Victor Keppler and Turner Richards. Peter Gowland and Victor Keppler had accepted invitations to demonstrate their photographic skills to the assembled photographers. Mr. Gowland, a famous glamour photographer from California, went on to shoot over 1,000 magazine covers, publish 25 books, and design and build his own studio equipment. Victor Keppler, about 58 at the time of this photograph, founded the Famous Photographers School in Westport, Connecticut, and received many awards for his commercial photographs.
